Juncus repens "Red" brings fine, grassy texture and warm color to a freshwater planted aquarium. Its slender leaves form distinctive tufts that soften the edges of rocks and driftwood. Plant it in small groups through the midground, or use it as a delicate background accent in a smaller aquascape.
With stronger lighting and consistent nutrition, the foliage can develop copper, bronze, and reddish tones. Under gentler light, growth may remain greener. Color varies with growing conditions, so red coloration is not guaranteed. CO₂ supplementation supports compact growth, while balanced fertilization helps the plant establish and maintain healthy new shoots.
Remove the pot and gently clear away the growing medium before planting the roots into the substrate. Leave space between portions for new growth, trim as needed to maintain shape, and replant healthy stem cuttings to build a fuller group.
